The Gloaming

"The Gloaming" truly blew me away the first time I watched it. Combining a spectacular visual feast with an intensive critique of the history and future of human society, the short is nothing less than impressively ambitious. The film is product of a trio of directors from Paris under the name NOBRAIN, whose talents meshed together to create something really unique. I was hoping we might get a conversation going about some of the salient topics within the film. Any thoughts?

  1. I Think this film did a great job in pointing out the dangers of progression and the consequences that result from our creations. The ending is truly powerful when he is thus consumed by that very progress. The artistic style is very dark and goes along with the bleakness of the overall message nicely. Overall impressive, a standing O!

  2. Thank you, Anonymous! I agree that the film may promote the dangers of progress without check, but I think it might be more pertinent to look at the innate capacity of mankind to destroy itself. From beginning to end we see that the only constant is conflict.
